Volunteer Opportunities

Christian Service has several opportunities available. Read over the following descriptions and call Pam at (248) 347-7778 ext. 17 with any questions.

Backpack Project
Additional committee volunteers needed. Kickoff is mid-July with backpack assembly on August 23rd (daytime). Minimal time required.

In need of co-chair to work with Pam Fritschen. This opportunity would be great for anyone working full or part time. Date of event is Sunday, October 8th. Not extensive time commitment.

Pam Fritschen initially participated in the CROP Walk as part of her son’s Religious Education community service project. She felt it was a very worthwhile opportunity involving all age brackets. Since 2007, Pam has represented St. James in bringing this event to our congregation alongside many other churches in our area. The Walk is held to raise awareness of world hunger and benefits local pantries.

C.O.T.S. (Coalition of Temporary Shelters)
A chairperson is needed for this ministry to continue. In the past, St. James has committed to handling 8 – 10 hot meals per year at the Detroit location where moms and children are residents.

Mercy In Action Day
In need of a few volunteers to form a committee for this project. The project will benefit newborns and moms in several pregnancy programs. Last year we were able to provide 100 diaper bags filled with essentials for babies. Timeframe for the project will be early September with assembly in early October.
